Upon meeting the woman of his dreams--an ex-hooker-stripper-junkie-alcoholic with a sixteen year old son in a wheelchair--Taylor pretends to be in AA to try and woo her. His fabulously talented family (who perhaps actually belong in AA) not surprisingly have a thing or two to say about Taylor falling for this beguiling and unpredictable woman.
Beneath the hideously feigned southern charm of "Krystal" is a picture so averse to any sense of sincerity or meaningful character development that the end product is nothing more than a naval-gazing attempt at madcap humor and aw-shucks romance.
Krystal feels like the result of an elaborate blunder wherein three different scripts were accidentally shuffled together and then - presumably through a series of hijinks - the director accidentally shot it all straight through.
