Sam Conrad is a biologist who at age 31 was a member of the first manned space mission from Earth to Mars. The spacecraft made a crash landing on Mars resulting in the eventual death of his crewmate, Mark Marcusson. The local Martians created an Earth-Like habitat for him to reside in their zoo.
