Valka is a Russian convict that Janusz meet at the gulag in Siberia. Since Valka were in debt with other prisoners, he decides to escape with Janusz and his group. When the group reaches the Russian border with Mongolia, Valka decides to stay, since Russia is his home, and will always be, even if it means he will be imprisoned.
