Daniel Faraday is a member of the science team dispatched to the island by Charles Widmore at the beginning of the fourth season. The team's mission is to find Ben Linus. Before coming to the island, Daniel was a physicist at The Queen's College at Oxford. He has done some potentially controversial experiments with altering time. Upon arrival on the island, where he parachuted in from a low-flying helicopter that had taken off from a nearby freighter, Daniel tells Jack that he and the team are there to rescue them. Daniel is matter-of-fact about his job and tends to get nervous when confronted with questions that are beyond his scope.
