The longtime feud between the Bennett and Givens clans has extra special resonance to Dickie, who was also a high-school baseball rival of now U.S. Deputy Marshal Raylan Givens. It was during one notorious game that Givens provided Dickie with his persistent limp. High-strung and always seemingly scattered, Dickie is a source of disappointment to his mother and always seems to be concocting schemes that go nowhere but bad.
