He works for the facility. and is there to warn those chosen for sacrifice of their fate if they choose to continue their journey. He has a certain passion for his work that other facility members do not share, and find creepy and amusing. He also warns those same facility members that Marty would be trouble, and in making fun of him, they doom themselves as well.
