Colonel Jim Porter is the commander of the 2nd Massachusetts Militia Regiment, above Captain Daniel Weaver and his second in command, Tom Mason. He typically shows up, gives orders that may or may not make sense to the 2nd Mass and then goes off to oversee fighting elsewhere. He was Weaver's commanding officer in the Army in Desert Storm.
