On HBOs series Deadwood, Francis Wolcott is the fictional advance man/surveyor for George Hearst, real-life American miner, financier, and eventual United States Senator (1887-1891). Francis Wolcott comes to Deadwood to prepare the way for Mr. Hearsts arrival. He also comes to indulge in his insane desires to kill prostitutes in cold blood.
