She had a strict upbringing and saw her parents divorce when she was eight. Her father committed suicide in 1998. She trained in dancing and singing at school. She has been an active singer, voice-actress and film and stage actress since 1982, but her debut came in 1985. She also began appearing on television a year later. She has sung the theme song for Mobile Suit Gundam F91, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, One-Punch Man and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin IV: Unmei No Zenya (Fateful Eve), which was the anime's fourth episode, in 2016. She was the host of NHK's Pop Jam program and appeared on variety and talk shows like Yorumo Hit Parade, Mori Mori, Star Dokiri and Magical Zunou Power!. She recorded a thirtieth anniversary single in 2015. She also hosted a weekly show on BayFM very Friday. The singer and actress is managed by NoReason agency. Hiroko mentions jazz and photography as favourite pastimes, Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald as favourite singers and Japanese and Chinese food as what she craves the most.
