Barry Jay Stich was born in New York City. From a very early age, Barry discovered a passion for writing and the arts after a teacher asked him to leave band class for holding up practice. He took up studying in an empty music room next door where he taught himself piano every day and began writing his own songs. In 1983, Barry moved to Los Angeles to be a songwriter. After years of partying and a few brushes with death, Barry cleaned up his act in 1988 and joined a gym. After getting fired from a job in entertainment PR, he took a job behind the desk at a fitness studio where he had started taking classes. One day when an instructor didn't show up for class, Barry stepped in and taught his first fitness class. Before he knew it, Barry was teaching 27 classes a week, and when the fitness studio went under two of Barry's students wanted to open a new fitness venture with him - on October 3rd, 1998, Barry's Bootcamp was born. Barry's Bootcamp has since grown into a fitness powerhouse with over 30 studios worldwide.Ever since Barry was a kid he had loved horror movies, and the success of Barry's Bootcamp allowed him to pursue a new interest in screenwriting his own films. In 2015, Barry's first horror film The Chosen was released; and in 2016, Barry wrote the wraparound story for a horror anthology feature film Patient Seven. Barry continues writing horror scripts in North Hollywood where he lives with one of his best friends and their three rescue dogs: Max, Ginger, and Lucy. Ever the dog advocate, Barry recently partnered with two friends to create Sally Snacks - a dog treat company that is just taking off. Barry is a self-described Star Wars junkie, theme park lover, and movie memorabilia collector (especially horror). Show less «
