Joseph "Skipper" Davidson was the father of director Gordon Davidson. He acted for many years in the Yiddish Theater and on Broadway, before becoming the first professor of Theater at Brooklyn College, City University of New York. He served there for many years. That was where he got the nick-name "Skipper", from his students.
