Joe and Mary Toolbox are already worried. There wouldn't be an Occupy movement unless people were - not just outraged by the bailouts of the banks - but really worried about their own futures. People are instinctually doing a lot of the right things - kids moving back in with their parents. No one is telling them to do that. It's just what people do in tough times.
