After two decades and over 50 film and television roles, Regina Russell stepped behind the camera as director and producer in 2008. She is most known for directing Quiet Riot: Well Now You're Here, There's No Way Back (2014), a documentary on the band Quiet Riot. An early pioneer of crowdfunding, she raised the seed money on Kickstarter in 2010, before crowdfunding was even heard of by the rest of the industry. The film premiered at the 2014 Newport Beach Film Festival and won the Festival Honors Award for "Best Music Film". It was quickly acquired by the Showtime Network and screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015.A visual artist in many mediums, she has always had a propensity for filmmaking and a deep love of movies. One of her first acting roles was as a mermaid in Steven Spielberg's Hook (1991). She has also enjoyed a career as a host and fashion correspondent. She hosted style segments on Today (1952), Access Hollywood (1996), among many others, and appeared as a third chair host on The Fashion Team (2006), as a celebrity style expert. A devoted animal advocate, she dedicates her talents and available time to recruiting celebrities to appear in PSAs that she directs, on various animal welfare issues.
