Luke was born in September 1985 and brought up by his mother in the Romford area, describing himself as a 'proud Essex boy'. Thanks to a local drama school teacher who funded his audition Luke joined the National Youth Theatre, later enrolling at the Central School of Speech and Drama, where he was awarded the Alan Bates Bursary for 2008. On graduation he began to build up an impressive stage C.V. including the lead in Tennessee Williams' 'Orpheus Descending' at the Manchester Royal Exchange and in 'A View From the Bridge' and 'Blue/Orange' at the Young Vic. Luke is also a well-regarded playwright - in fact he began writing in his teens as a second string in case he failed to make it as an actor. His works 'Goodbye to All That' and 'So Here We Are were performed to critical acclaim at the Royal Exchange in Manchester whilst the play 'Growth' garnered rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe and 'Hearts played at Sheffield Crucible and the Shed at the National . He is also under commission to the Bush Theatre as of 2016, the year in which he can be seen in the second television series of 'Poldark' as idealistic but fallible Dr Dwight Enys. Married to actress Joanna Horton (born April 1980) whom he met when they appeared together in the Royal Shakespeare Company's 'Days of Significance' and with whom he runs the company Norton Productions they have a daughter Albie.
