Mary Mackey was born in Berkeley but grew up in beautiful Los Gatos, California. Mary's family was always very important to her. She gratefully spent many holidays with over 35 family members including Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, & Grandparents along with her mom, dad, brother Bob and sister Pam. When Mackey became interested in modeling and acting during her senior year, her sister encouraged her to compete in the Miss Northern California Beauty Pageant. At age 19, Mackey competed in and won the Miss Northern California pageant and went on to the Miss California pageant as Miss San Francisco. Mackey then parlayed her pageant wins to enter the world of professional modeling. Mary became a successful San Francisco-based fashion model, and graced the runway for world-renowned designers including Donna Karan, Yves Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera, Bob Mackie, Galanos, Adolfo, Karl Lagerfeld, Oscar de la Renta, and many others. When designer Christian Lacroix first arrived in the United States to launch his collection, Mackey was selected to model for his debut runway show at 20th Century Fox Studios. Mary became a member of SAG-AFTRA as a result of booking several department store commercials, which lead to various regional and national commercials. With film being the next logical step in the evolution of career, she notified the casting arm of her agency that she was interested in extra work in films. Her first experience on a film set was when she shared a scene with the incomparable Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire in what was perhaps one of the most memorable comedy "reveal" scenes of all time. To this day, Mackey considers those 14 days on set at Bridges Restaurant & Bar in Danville, CA., with the amazing trio of Robin Williams, Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan as one of her most cherished acting experiences. Subsequently, Mackey's first TV role was playing a judge opposite actor and series star Don Johnson in Nash Bridges, which was filmed in San Francisco. Mackey studied at the respected film acting school, Full Circle Productions, and with acting coaches Billie Shepard and John Howard Swain in San Francisco. She then went on to become a faculty member of Full Circle Productions, where she taught film and commercial acting. While continuing to grow her acting resume in the San Francisco area, Mackey began working regularly in the Los Angeles market, to where she relocated in 2006. Shortly after arriving in L.A., fueled by her love of stage acting, Mackey joined The Actors Gang Theatre ensemble in Culver City, CA., guided by Founding Artistic Director Tim Robbins where she worked both on stage and behind the scenes in many productions. Mackey continues to amass a growing body of work in film, television, web series, and commercials. Her work as a volunteer for several non-profit organizations is very important to her. She has been reading to children through the SAG Foundation BookPALS program continuously since 1998. She believes that encouraging kids to believe in themselves and to love reading is life-changing and one of the greatest gifts of all. Show less «
