Tony was born in June 1958 and was immediately drawn to acting. His parents were both actors having met on the set of Forbidden Journey. His father, Jan Rubes, was also an opera singer. He lived most of his childhood years in the Greater Toronto Area and graduated from York University in Toronto. Tony pursued acting in Los Angeles before returning Toronto where he worked on the CBC show "Wind at my Back." He had several guest appearances on the show at the Hotel Clerk. He then left acting to join the directors' guild, and then decided to return to school to pursue golf management. Currently, he is a golf professional working and living in the Georgian Bay Triangle.
