In February 1996, his parents were divorced and he lived with his father, while his brother Jose (born 1981) followed his mom. At the age of 13, Alvaro was chosen to play Juan in "Secretos del Corazon" (1997) after the talent searching Jose Guiderfo saw him when he played drama as the prince in "Snow White".
