Perhaps best known later in his career as an independent film producer, Kevin Carvell found his start in the business through small chance on-screen appearances in television and direct-to-video as a child. After several years and a few stints in front of and behind the camera, he went on to launch a media development company. Among other things, he offered supplemental promotional services, as well as input on various aspects of productions, mostly culled by fan feedback through varying online means. A unique business at its time, these services were offered at little to no cost to film studios, television networks, record labels, and multimedia companies, deriving most revenue through sales and advertising on his company's promotional website. Often tackling risky or struggling projects, his distinct approach not only garnered him honorary Emmy® awards for his contributions to a few winning series, but some public notoriety, as well, because of his role as a kind of liaison between the fans, studios, and networks. He also championed to keep several struggling fan-favorite but low-rated series on the air, as well as aiding the home video release of a number of titles. Over the years, he's used this attention and his resources to lend support to numerous animal welfare organizations, veterans groups and initiatives, food banks, as well as the independent film community and public domain film restoration.
