What Are Horror Movies And How Much We Enjoy?

Horror movies are disturbing films created to scare and panic, cause fear and terror, and to beseech our hidden worst fears, resulting in a horrifying finale. They are captivating and entertaining in a cathartic way. Horror films effectively centre on the dark side of life, the forbidden, and strange and alarming events. They deal with our most primal nature and its fears: our nightmares, our vulnerability, our alienation, our revulsions, our terror of the unknown, our fear of death and dismemberment, loss of identity, or fear of sexuality. Whatever dark, primitive, and revolting traits that simultaneously attract and repel us are featured in the horror genre.

Horror films are usually a combination of fiction when the menace or monster is related to a corruption of technology, or when the earth is under threat from aliens. The supernatural film genre is not the sameas the horror genre. Even though thriller films may have some relation when they focus on the revolting and horrible acts of an unusual individual. Horror films are also known as chillers, scary movies, spook fests, and the ghoulish.

People enjoy these movies because the thrill stimulates them. They like to evaluate the threat levels by watching such movies. Some of these movies are based on true events. However, most of them are produced to spook the viewers. It has also been proven that humans can worry in ways which other animals don’t or can’t. Horror movies may depict that when a person is disobedient they may suffer. Some also depict that innocence persists.

One of the most praise-worthy horror movies is The Fog. It is a 1980 American supernatural horror which was by John Carpenter. It expresses the story of a strange, glowing fog that takes over a little coastal town in California. There comes vengeful ghosts of mariners who dies in a shipwreck there 100 years earlier. The film was remade in 2005.

Some say that it’s a way of experiencing the fear in a controlled setting. As the fears faced in real life are not controllable, people like to face them in movies. By doing this they know that they are safe in reality and feel better because they might be confronting fears every day which can be even more alarming.

As for the thrill, watching horror movies is comparable to riding a roller coaster. That is the reason they often end after severe expectation.

Some people experience both positive and negative emotions while watching these movies. It may appear weird, it true. It is believed that the individual is not really scared, but is only excited by the movie. The fear you experience while watching a horror film is just an excitement that will go away as soon as the movie is over. You only have to bear with the terror and enjoy the shiver.

While some people try to connect their real life with the reel life, most of them only take a little from the movie. Thus watching horror movies can be justified in a lot of ways.
